There is currently no published action to amend the Western Pacific region Fishery Management Plans (FMPs). The Council sent a draft amendment for review by NMFS, which was sent back to the Council as it failed to include annual catch limits (ACLs) for all managed stocks. The Council has the remainder of 2010 to update the amendment. There is a significant amount of scientific uncertainty associated with council managed stocks and so far there has been little public discussion on how to quantify and address uncertainty. The Council is assuming that highly migratory pelagic stocks managed under international agreements will not require ACLs.
