The Marine Fish Conservation Network is the largest national coalition solely dedicated to promoting the long-term sustainability of marine fish. With almost 200 members - including environmental organizations, commercial and recreational fishing associations, aquariums, and marine science groups - the Network uses its distinct voice and the best available science to educate policymakers, the fishing industry, and the public about the need for sound conservation and better management practices.

The Network's primary objective is to
make conservation a top priority of marine fisheries management. To
advance this objective, the Network has analyzes the ability of existing
federal laws -- chiefly the Magnuson-Stevens Act (MSA) -- to adequately
promote marine fish conservation. Significant changes are necessary to
improve this law's effectiveness. In order to fulfill this goal, the
Network has prepared "A National Agenda to Protect, Restore and
Conserve Marine Fish," and following the reuathorization of MSA in 2006, "TAKING STOCK: The Cure for Chronic Overfishing."
The Network has a detailed internal structure to ensure equal representation of all member interests.
There are twenty-one member organizations on the Board of Advisors, which include seven Executive Committee members and two Co-chairs. See Advisor List .
